I mean…it feels like I was just answering a bunch of Valentines Day emails that I don’t think I was qualified to answer…but you of course know…I answered anyways.

Well…this article was inspired by all of you readers who are emailing me about getting ready for summer.

And the truth is…

5 Reasons To Step Your Training Up Now

1. Remember the Sun…The Yello, Hot Thing In The Sky…It’s Coming Back Out!

Do you know that feeling of desperation…scrambling to get finished…a deadline nipping at your heels?

I do…and it’s terrible.

I also see it as a trainer… more often than you think…and it looks just as bad as it feels.

I used to get this feeling all the time in college…

I would be procrastinating and doing a pretty damn good job at slacking in a class.

Until the inevitable… and a mid-term, final, or paper would pop up faster then obesity rates in America… or before you can say Oreo Mcflurry.

Next thing you know…your scrambling through books…emailing any and everyone in your class for notes…trying to make ends meet.

The feeling is terrible and most of the time the results are just as bad.

I also used to feel the effects of desperation and the pressures of deadlines every May or June…

Why?

Because May and June signals the beginning of summer and its when you realize that the pool party or beach vacation you were planning with friends…is only a few weeks away and…

…You are completely out of shape.

By this time it’s too late… So, you start freaking out and scrambling…

Hitting the Gym 2 times a day thinking it will make a difference… trying every crazy diet fad that once was popular… taking fat burners, magic creams, grape fruit juice cleanses.

It’s a sad sight to see someone in this position…I know because I’ve been in those shoes more times than I wanted to be…

And just like those college classes…I would do okay but never great.

A lot of the times, I wasted a lot of money and time going to some pretty crazy extremes trying to transform my body in a ridiculous time frame…only to end up short of any goals I had and wishing I would have started earlier.

So…

What I want to do for you now… is be the voice that tells you to get off your ass because winter is over…it’s been over…and start training now. Don’t wait until 2 or 3 weeks before you have to leave for vacation…it will be too late.

Start now and get a head start on your transformation, so when your bathing in that hot sun…proudly wearing your new swimsuit or board shorts… and showing off a tight and rock hard body…

You’ll take a sip of whatever refreshing beverage your holding and be like damn… thank you Albert!

I subscribe to a newsletter from a guy whose just a plain genius…his name is Seth Godin and you can check out his blog here.

He’s the author of something like 12 New York Best Sellers and he just has some awesome content for pretty much anyone trying to better themselves…

Anyways…

Seth wrote this blog post and it was just this one phrase…but it was tweeted over 1200 times and got a ridiculous amount of responses.

Why?

Well…I’ll let you be the judge of that.

Read it once more…and really just take a minute to think how it can fit into your life.

3. You Deserve it

How long have you dreamed and worked hard for your ideal body?

How many hours have you put into the gym? Months? Years?

How many tempting meals have you passed up for a good source of protein and veggies? So you can look good in your swimsuit.

How many summers have you wished you could have shed that extra layer…dropped that last pesky 5 to 10 lbs…been a little leanerbe a little happier?

I’m telling you now…train hard, stay consistent with your nutrition, and commit yourself to a true training lifestyle because…

…You Absolutely Without a Doubt…Deserve to have the body you want!

4. Being True To Yourself…Remember, New Years Resolutions

Some studies report that the average American sticks to their New Year’s Resolutions for 2 weeks before giving up.

The same studies show that the second wave…the tougher…more determined groups, will last up to 3 months…

Well…Guess What?

Your 3 months is up

Yup…it’s March already and it’s still cold as hell in Seattle.

But…

I am pleading with you to keep pressing on…don’t let yourself stop because 3 months is too much time invested to just say Fu*k it…and stop.

Be all the cliché’s in the book!

Dare to be different…go against the grain…don’t become a statistic…carve your own path…don’t be influenced be the one who influences.

Yeah all the things I used to think were a bunch of Bullshiznit…

…Until I figured out the one thing that made all of these things work.

Being the best you means… staying true to yourself and consistent with what you say your going to do.

It’s living with integrity!

If you say your going to take out the garbage…take out the damn garbage… If you say your going to get a new job…be true to your word and get a new job.

And in this case…

If you say your going to lose weight…get in shape…commit to a true training lifestyle… Don’t give up… Go do it!

5. Everything is Pushing You The Other Way

Let’s face it… Our lives are not ideal environments for fit bodies and training lifestyle’s.

Without an effort to press forward…

…Reality kicks in… and it kicks in hard…like in the teeth or the nuts.

Reality is… there are a lot of things that effortlessly pull you back and further away from your goals every day.

See if any of these look familiar

  • Friends are available for happy hour grease bomb food and belly fat inducing drinks as fast you can text…drinks?
  • Fast food restaurants infest every block of every urban area…enticing you with neon signs and $1 deals!
  • A healthy meal is harder to find than a low interest home loan.

What the Fu*k…No wonder people are quitting…It’s just easier to be out of shape…to stop working out…to give up the training lifestyle.

But when you stop trying…

You fall back to bad habits. And I’m sure you’ve been down that road before, because I definitely have

But if you’re lucky…

You hit a breaking point…or what I like to call the “uh oh, ah ha” moment where you realize how much you let yourself go and fall behind…and then when it’s gets bad enough, you decide that there has to be change… and that you need to get back to where you used to be.

Your still working out…but it’s not the same. It feels like your just going through the motions and the results…

…Well they seem further away…out of the picture.

You aren’t crushing the workouts and having fun anymore…the grilled chicken salad you used to eat for lunch is now a sandwich, chips, and a diet coke.

5 Real Life Tips On How To Get a Kick Ass Head Start

1. Unsure of what to do, don’t let it hold you back …Melt Fat, Build Lean Muscle, Get Started, and Do this Workout Tomorrow.

I had a friend who always told me how she wanted to start working out…lose weight…and get toned.

But…

She didn’t want to go to the gym yet because she had no clue about what workout to do.

Instead of finding some help or researching…she just never went.

Well I don’t want you to be in this same position…so here is a fat melting, lean muscle building workout that you can do tomorrow and the best part is…

You don’t even need to go the gym!

No more excuses.

Here’s the workout…

High Charged Hard Body Circuit

Perform each exercise for 50 seconds doing as many reps as possible with good form. Rest 10 seconds between each exercise and complete all exercises to finish 1 round. Rest 1-2 min in between rounds.

  1. Pushups (Progression = Yoga Pushups)
  2. Prisoner Style Jump Squats
  3. V-sits
  4. Alternating Lunges
  5. Jumping Jacks
  6. Russian twists
  7. Burpees
  8. High Knees in Place

Rest 1-2 min and repeat for 1-3 rounds!

Now, what you need to do is take a look at a typical day and see where you’re drinking high calorie beverages and switch to 0 calorie beverages…try water if you can’t think of one…

Not only will you save money…you’ll start losing weight too.

3. Make a Goal, Write It Down, and Tell Someone.

Have you ever gone to the gym…not really knowing what you’re going to do?

So you end up just kinda doing a little bit of everything and then running on the treadmill for a bit…

Well if you knew exactly what you wanted to achieve and had a goal…then you could have a training program designed to get you your results as fast as possible…

Once you get your goal…get old school with it.

Grab a pen and an actual piece of paper and write it down…it just makes it so much more official…but don’t stop here.

After you get it written down…go tell as many people as you can about your goal. This is a great way to keep yourself accountable and give you extra incentive to reach your goals…since everyone knows how your trying to get in shape, you won’t let yourself down or want others to think you gave up.

4. Get a Full, Good Night Sleep By Taking a Brain Dump!

It’s no secret that sleep is important… it’s where we re-charge, recover muscles, restore energy…relax…but if you’re like me…

Sometimes getting to sleep isn’t as easy as it used to be… And this can be huge set back in your training lifestyle.

But…I’ve found one method that has helped me catch some Z’s and get an opportunity to re-coop.

It’s called a Brain Dump.

What you do is get a piece of paper…I have tried it with my laptop and it doesn’t work nearly as good (actually try staying away from all electronics 30 min prior to bed)…and on that piece of paper write down everything on your mind that you have to do tomorrow.

Get it all down…

Emails, your to do list, appointments, things you want to read, things you need to eat, what time your picking up dry cleaning, a reminder to get gas…I mean everything.

After that forget about it.

It really is so simple but does an awesome job at clearing your mind from everything and helps you get some quality sleep!

5. Train In A Group of Friends

This is perhaps the best way to kick your training lifestyle off with a fun edge!

We all know that Life gets crazy busy…finding time to see friend’s gets hard.

But…

A great way for you to spend time with them is to workout together. You get accountability, motivation, and support from a training group of friends.

Warning: Make sure you choose like-minded friends who share the same level of intensity for training as you do…because I’ve seen one bad apple hold an entire group back from achieving results.

    Alby…

    Great blog today!! i just passed it on to my staff who is the last stretch of Biggest Loser. Ha.

    I needed the push too – i am such a sucker for happy hour or a glass of wine after work, but i am gonna go running tonight. I have a half marathon goal to conqur this summer!!
